- In addition, I have also changed the theme of my blog by clicking on the “Customize” option and clicking on the “Apply to Blog” option.
- Then returned to my blog page and clicked on the “Back to Blogger” option
- Clicked on “view blog” to view my profile.
- Also, changed my profile by updating the information using the “Setting” option from the “User Profile” option after scrolling down.
- I have updated the profile picture by downloading it from Facebook but we can upload it if we already have our photos on the device.
- Moreover, I have updated the profile information by filling the text area on the “Introduction” option. Saved the information about me by clicking on the “Save Profile” option.
- To view my updated profile, I have clicked on the “View update Profile” option below the profile picture.
The above steps are only for creating a basic profile for my blog. I will use this blog for this module by posting content-based material for the learners along with the specific activities. I will also showcase my talent in the subject area by updating with the creative post. In the future, this same blog can be used in my teaching and learning area.
Benefits of Blogs in Teaching and Learning
To be precise, I am sure that there will be countless benefits of blogs in teaching and learning but I will explain only a few of them from my perspective.
Activity can be done in a virtual classroom: As teaching and learning through the blog is asynchronous learning, students will be able to learn virtually according to their comfortability and ease. By going through the content posted by the teacher, student-centered activity can be carried out virtually with the teacher being the facilitator.
Integrate technology: A blog is also a communicative tool. So, using the blog in teaching and learning is a part of ICT integration. Integration of technology like blogs plays a crucial role in teaching and learning since it makes learning easier and comprehensible for the learners.
Socializing platform: Blog can be one of the media where many learners interact either by providing feedback or accessing the contents. Also, with the blog as a medium for teaching in a learning platform, teachers and the students can freely interact and communicate for better learning.
Express creativity: The blogger will develop creativity by blogging constantly. Students as a blogger and teachers as a blogger will be able to showcase their creativity to a large audience.
Importance of Blogging in Education
Blogging in education will be important since it;
- Provide lessons and materials: Teachers and the learners can share the resources for the lesson. Not only teachers can provide lesson materials but also students can share their assignments and academic write up. In that case, teachers can assess the students learning and assess their teaching.
- Promote academic writing: Blogging in education will promote academic writing both for teachers as well as for learners. Posting self-made videos, writing assignments, reflections, and solving questions will ultimately boost students’ academic writing.
