What is nearpod?
It is an interactive classroom tool to engage students by adding interactive activities to your lessons like polls, collaboration boards, and game-based quizzes. Students can interact and submit responses through any mobile device or laptop.
Uses of nearpod
It helps educators to make any lesson interactive whether in the classroom or virtual. The concept is simple. A teacher can create interactive presentations that can contain quiz polls, videos, collaboration boards, and more.
How to create nearpod account
- Type www.nearpod.com in the URL tab in chrome or any web browser
- Select the Teachers option and click on the Login button
- Select Sign in with Google
- Choose your role as a Teacher
- Tick on "I agree to nearpod's terms and conditions and I am over 13 years old"
- Click on Sign Up
- Click on the Done button

Using nearpod in Google Classroom
- Click on nearpod library under nearpod content in the left hand corner
- Choose the Subjects that you are going to teach, I have chosen "English Language Arts"
- Choose relevant content, in this I have chosen "Nouns" Link:https://nearpod.com/t/english-language-arts/2nd/nouns-L35509589
- Click on the share (Before sharing, you can preview it to see how the content is)
- Select the "Link" option
- Then copy the link (ctrl+c)
- Go to Google Classroom
- Click on create
- Select the materials option
- Provide an appropriate title and add a description
- Select the "Add link" button and paste it (ctrl+v)

How to add slides from nearpod to google classroom
- Click on "Create" button on the top right hand corner in the nearpod
- Choose Lesson-create content, media, and activities
- Click on "Add content and activities"
- the Select Slides option
- Choose the relevant template/theme for the slide
- Type the title of the slide
- Click on save and add new button
- Click on save after adding the required number of slides
- Click on save and exit
- Point the cursor on the slide and select the "Student-paced" option
- Choose add link
- Go to google classroom
- Click on "Create"
- Select "Materials"
- Give the appropriate title and add a short description
- Select "Add link" button and paste it (ctrl+v)
- Click on "Add link"
- Click on the post option
- To view the ppt slides, double click on the ppt that you have uploaded in the google classroom
- Dialogue box will appear saying "Welcome to your lesson"
- Type the name of the student
- Click on "Join lesson"
How to add phET simulation using nearpod in google classroom
- Click on the "Create" on the top right corner in nearpod
- Choose lesson-Create content, media and activities
- Click on add content and activities
- Select phET simulation option
- Choose "Math: Middle School Category"
- Select the desired content. For example, I have selected "Area Builder Game"
- Preview it before clicking on the done button
- Click on the done button
- Click on save and exit
- Point the cursor on the selected phET simulation and select "Student-paced" option
- Choose to add link
- Go to google classroom
- Click on "Create"
- Select "Materials"
- Give the appropriate title and add a short description
- Select "Add link" button and paste it (ctrl+v)
- Click on "Add link"
- Click on the post option
- To view the ppt slides, double click on the ppt that you have uploaded in the google classroom
- Dialogue box will appear saying "Welcome to your lesson"
- Type the name of the student
- Click on "Join lesson"
How to add a video library ready-made in google classroom using nearpod
- Click on the "Create" on the top right corner in nearpod
- Choose lesson-Create content, media, and activities
- Click on add content and activities
- Select the videos option
- Choose the subject that you want to search the video
- Type the name of the videos that you would want to upload on the "Search for videos" tab
- Select the desired video.
- Preview it before clicking on the done button
- Click on the done button
- Click on save and exit
- Point the cursor on the selected video and select "Student-paced" option
- Choose to add link
- Go to google classroom
- Click on "Create"
- Select "Materials"
- Give the appropriate title and add a short description
- Select "Add link" button and paste it (ctrl+v)
- Click on "Add link"
- Click on the post option
- To view the ppt slides, double click on the ready-made video that you have uploaded in the google classroom
- Dialogue box will appear saying "Welcome to your lesson"
- Type the name of the student
- Click on "Join lesson"
