Using GraphCalc to Plot the Coordinates
ICT as Situating Tools- Using GraphCalc to Plot the Coordinates
Teaching and learning of mathematics concepts and skills is much more better with the integration of ICT. So, as a teacher, when we are teaching about the graph, we can use GraphCalc to have the students plot the intercepts. Students will have more fun to learn about the coordinates plotting through this apps. Also, they will be able to learn it better. Learning Activity that we have done during this session are as follows;
Case 1
- Open 2D graphing calculator
- Type the equation y=2x+1 in the equation pane
- Keeping y-intercept (1) constant, change the co-efficient of x using both positive and negative numbers
- Write down what did you notice?
Figure 1.1 Graph of equation y=2x+1 with both positive and negative co-efficient
Observation: The intersection points remains same
Case 2
Equation is y=2x+1
Keeping the y intercept (1) constant, change the co-efficient of x using only negative numbers. Write down what you have noticed.
Figure 1.2 Graph of equation y=2x+1 with negative co-efficientObservation: Intersection points remains same but the graph line is opposite to positive co-efficient
Case 3
Equation is y=2x=1
Figure 1.3 Graph of y=2x=1
Observation: It forms a horizontal line
Case 4
Equation is y=2x+1
Plot the graph by keeping the co-efficient constant and change the y-intercept to both positive and negative numbers
Figure 1.4 Graph of equation y=2x+1by changing the y-intercept and changing the co-efficient
