What is CMap Concept Map (CMap) is a graphical knowledge representation system, which has received grwoing popularity as a teaching and evaluation tool. In CMaps knowledge is represented by linking concepts to one another and specifying the nature of their relationship on the link. What are the uses of CMap Diagram file created by IHMC CMap Tools, a program used for drawing concept maps; stores a visual diagram that depicts an idea using blocks, arrows and text; used for capturing thoughts and ideas during the brainstorming process; also used for sharing ideas with others. CMap installation from cloud Type "CMap cloud" in URL bar and search it User registration Fill in all the required details in "create account" section as shown below  After filling the details, click on "Create Account " button Activate the account if it is not activated by visiting your email By using CMap, we have learned on how to embed  CMap content created from it and embed it in ou...

Nearpod

Image
Nearpod What is nearpod? It is an interactive classroom tool to engage students by adding interactive activities to your lessons like polls, collaboration boards, and game-based quizzes. Students can interact and submit responses through any mobile device or laptop.  Uses of nearpod It helps educators to make any lesson interactive whether in the classroom or virtual. The concept is simple. A teacher can create interactive presentations that can contain quiz polls, videos, collaboration boards, and more. How to create nearpod account Type www.nearpod.com in the URL tab in chrome or any web browser Select the Teachers option and click on the Login button Select Sign in with Google Choose your role as a Teacher Tick on "I agree to nearpod's terms and conditions and I am over 13 years old" Click on Sign Up Click on the Done button My nearpod account link:  https://nearpod.com/library/?ks=1&origin= Using nearpod in Google Classroom Click on nearpod library under nearpod c...

🎮Simulation Game

Simulation games are also one of the component of situating tool. So, in this class we have played two simulation games; Bug on the wire and Flight. The link was already uploaded in the vle by our tutor. Bug on a wire The first simulation game that we played is the bug on the wire game. It is a game similar to temple run where a boy runs on a wire ( let's say electric wire). At some point, a crow appears on the wire so we as a character (boy) have to avoid the crow by jumping or sliding to left and right. The boy is eaten by crow when we as a player fails to avoid it. So the game ends. So, when I was playing this game, it made me think and feel that I am actually running away from crows and makes me tensed. I felt like I am the real boy running for my life. At some point, I shouted while playing this game since I was in the shoe of that main character. So this simulation game particularly bug on the wire is totally situating me to their world. Link to the bug on the wire game: http...

Google Maps

Image
What is Google Maps? Google Maps is a web mapping platform and consumer application offered by Google. It offers satellite imagery, aerial photography, street maps, 360 °  interactive panoramic views of streets, real-time traffic conditions, and route planning for traveling by foot, car, bike, air, and public transportation. What can we do with Google Maps? Here are the 10 things that Google Maps can do for us Get transportation directions Creating a map Measuring distance and ETA Mixing maps information Finding your location Setting routes Getting traffic information Verbal instructions

Google Earth

Image
What is google earth? Google Earth is a computer program that renders a 3D representation of Earth based primarily on satellite imagery. The program maps the Earth by superimposing satellite images, aerial photography, and GIS data onto a 3D globe, allowing users to see cities and landscapes from various angles.  Steps to open Google Earth Click on the link or copy paste this link in the URL bar on the chrome Link: https://earth.google.com/web/@0,2.01836734,0a,22251752.77375655d,35y,0h,0t,0r What can we do in Google Earth? Here are the five things to try with the new Google Earth, which runs in Chrome on desktop and on Android for mobile users: Enjoy 3D maps Have another dose of David Attenborough See Hemingway's hangouts Get lost Feel lucky

Using GraphCalc to Plot the Coordinates

Image
ICT as Situating Tools- Using GraphCalc to Plot the Coordinates Teaching and learning of mathematics concepts and skills is much more better with the integration of ICT. So, as a teacher, when we are teaching about the graph, we can use GraphCalc to have the students plot the intercepts. Students will have more fun to learn about the coordinates plotting through this apps. Also, they will be able to learn it better. If you want to know more about GraphCalc open the link here: https://www.graphcalc.com/about/ Learning Activity that we have done during this session are as follows; Case 1 Open 2D graphing calculator Type the equation y=2x+1 in the equation pane Keeping y-intercept (1) constant, change the co-efficient of x using both positive and negative numbers Write down what did you notice? Figure 1.1 Graph of equation y=2x+1 with both positive and negative co-efficient Observation:  The intersection points remains same Case 2 Equation is y=2x+1 Keeping the y intercept (1) constan...

Creating Google Sites

Image
Google Sites It is a free website builder from Google. We can create websites with collaborators by giving another Google user edit it access. Google sites are compatible with other Google services like Docs, Sheets, and Slides.  Link for my google Site:   https://bit.ly/38tHJZq Type "sites.google.com" in the URL search button At the top, under "Start a new site", select a template At the top left, enter the name of your site and press "Enter" Add content to your site At the top right, click "Publish" You can click on this link to know more about "How to use the new google site"  Link:  https://youtu.be/Dm8nEq4jVJg

Constructing Parallelogram Using GeoGebra

Image
Today, we have learned how to construct 2-D shapes using GeoGebra. In this, we have learned that we must let students follow the concept skills, process skills, and product skills while constructing the shape as follows; 1.       Concept skills: It is a 2-D shape in which opposite sides are equal and parallel at the same time. It has four sides, four corners, and four vertexes.                                              Figure 1.1: Parallelogram 2.      2. Process skills (Procedural steps) 3.       3. Product skills (Output/result) Figure 1.2: Parallelogram Construction without hiding the unnecessary objects Figure 1.3: The final Parallelogram ABCD

Using Coggle.it (Co-Constructive Tool) and Google Docs for Collaborative Lesson Plan

Image
Today we have used coggle.it to construct the skeleton overview of our group lesson plan.  Link to the skeleton overview of our lesson plan from coggle.it:  https://coggle.it/diagram/YqHb1TctkO-aUOGZ/t/ict-lesson-planning-download-6-2022-6-6-10-58 Photo of the draft skeleton overview of our lesson plan Link to the lesson plan:  https://coggle.it/diagram/YoHnWg8o3JWkdkRx/t/ict-lesson-planning-download-6?utm_source=transaction&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=retain   Last time, I used coggle.it to design the concept map of visiting Taktsang myself. In that case, it was only me creating that concept map so the coggle.it that I used, in that case, was a constructive tool. In today's case, I and the other 6 group members jointly constructed the skeleton overview of our lesson plan. We have chosen the topic " Protecting Habitat" from class five science.  The steps in creating a concept map are already posted in the previous post.  The steps in planni...

ICT as Situating Tool

Image
ICT as a Situating Tool Situating tools is the system that situates users in an environment where they may experience the context and the happening. Through this, it helps to create real live pictures and capture and display the real events that give users a feeling as it is happening in that situation. It helps to give that feeling of reaching into that situation.  In this, we have learned to use situating tools such as Google Map, google earth, simulation game, GraphCal, and GeoGebra.
